The older generation...

Today I think about the older generation in my family. Tonight and tomorrow we will celebrate the life of my Great Uncle Alden. He is the last of that generation on my Grandpa's side. It is amazing looking back and seeing what we have learned and could learn from that generation. The manners, the faith, the genuine love and caring for others not just for people they knew but people in general. Such a difference compared to how things are today in our "selfish" generations. What a blessing to learn things from my grandparents on both sides and also great aunts and uncles. The pictures are ones I have on hand of that generation...
First picture is of my grandparents on my mom's side. Love and miss them dearly.
This next is a picture of my grandparents on my dad's side with my dad as a kid. Unfortunately I never got to meet my grandma. I do hear I am somewhat like her though :)
The next is my Aunt Doris & Uncle Alden on my mom's side. (grandpa's sister & brother in law) Uncle Alden is the one we are celebrating his life tonight and went home on Sunday. ( I snagged this picture from my cousin's facebook page)

I am trying to not take advantage of the opportunities I have and have had to learn from all of them and take away what I can. Cherish the moments you never know how long they will last and what you can learn by sitting back and listening and watching...
